Angpao or Hongbao is a type of red packet often seen in Lunar New Year. As a cultural symbolism, people use these red packets as an envelope to give their relatives some 'new year money'. Dominated by the color red to signify the cultural importance, Angpao itself actually has 'red' in its name—红， hong, for red, and 包， bao, for bag or packet.
